I was born in 1962 in the UK where I have lived ever since. I hold a current
UK passport.
Business Education Council General / National diploma in business studies
and the usual assortment of school qualifications.
6 Months with DEC PDP11/23 macro 11 based assembler developing
accounting system and disc maintenance utilities.
2 years Sales and technical support with a software house
dealing mainly with PC to PC communications software.
2.5 years with Property Services Agency in Hastings working
with communication software on PC's, the main work was on VAX
VMS running Oracle forms version 2 and sqlplus 5.
10 years at Inland Revenue Worthing using UNIX, C, Pro C and
Oracle forms version 3 and sqlplus 7 - latterly moving to Oracle 8I.
6 years at Inland Revenue Worthing using DB2, COBOL, JCL, REXX on OS390 partly
in my new role as trainee DBA.
Various short periods of consultancy on the design and
implementation of specialised equipment for the handicapped
and the use and implementation of estate management software.
I have also gained personal knowledge of varying aspects of
PC's, applications include Optical character recognition, word
processing, Borland C version 5.02 and Microsoft quick basic
programming languages, Javascript and html basics, small networks, CD ROM use and
implementation, elementary use of sound control systems, odds
and ends of work with the design of Braille terminals and
speech synthesis and assistance with the installation and
initial use of estate management software.
I now support several web sites which cover a range of subjects which allows
me to explore various aspects of HTML and javascript.
I sat on the board of trustees for BCAB for several years during which time I
was involved with the running of the organisations many aspects of work from
the structuring of training courses to international advisory schemes financed
by the EEC.
My position on the board gave me feed back on many aspects of computing apart
from the obvious specialised features of the associations members. My
involvement in general office work to contacts with advanced electronic
manufacturers all help to give me a broad knowledge and overview of what is
available and being used in a wide field of industry.
I decided to resign from this position after a few years as I did not have
enough time to fulfill the duties to my satisfaction.
I was with the board of trustees of the Blatchington court trust from July
2011 until in July 2021.
the trust is involved with the support, education and development of visually
impaired individuals up to the age of 30 in the south east of the UK.
I hoped that my personal knowledge of education and employment as a blind
person that I could bring to the organisation helped with day to day work and
be useful input to the trusts on going and development stratergy.
